In Massachusetes, Donna Larson fell behind on her mortgage payments in 2006. So, she got the bright idea that she would hold off the inevitable foreclosure by telling the bank that her son had died while serving in the armed forces, and she was waiting for his death benefits check to come in. However, her son was very much alive, and the bank eventually foreclosed on her home a year later. However when they tried to evict her in 2008, she decided to play the death card one more time. This time she had someone call and say that she had died, and could the bank gives them a little bit more time to move her stuff out of the house. Sure enough it worked and the bank showed some mercy . She was found out and indicted on larceny this week. I've never been evicted from a home, nor do I plan to be, but you better believe that if I had 2 years to not make a mortgage payment, I would have saved enough money to find a more comfortable place to live other than jail.

Police in New York City are looking for the boquet bandit, a bank robber who was armed with flowers. Officials say he has struck before using a potted plant used a potted plant. Police say he reached into the bouquet, pulled out a threatening note demanded money and warned, "Don't be a hero." Hey look, if all this boquet bandit, or rhodendrun robber or whatever you want to call this fruit basket felon has is flowers, you don't need to hand over the money. Just flash the bat signal to get rid of Poison Ivy's new henchman.

Mortgage rates were again lower this week to the lowest point since the 1950s, when most mortgages lasted just 20 or 25 years. The 30 year fixed got as low as 4.375% with 0 points, and many no cost refinances being done at 4.875% or less. So if you are at 5.25% or higher on your rate, you should at the very least give me a call so you can know within 5 minutes if I can help you or someone you know save money each month.
