All mortgage loan originators were required to renew their licensed as of December 31st, 2011. Those that did not do so are in an expired or terminated status and will be unable to originate mortgages or close any that are already in progress. It is imperative that you check the licensing status of the loan officer you select or the one you are currently working with. The link to check is as follows: http://www.nmlsconsumeraccess.org/

The area where it states "Authorized to conduct business" should say "Yes". If anything else is there, they will be unable to close your mortgage. Do not risk delays and possible loan denial because you are working with someone who is unlicensed or has not properly renewed their license.
