Bossier City got its start in the 1830’s when a single family had a plantation in the area. The port in the area was referred to as ‘Cane’s Landing’. Other settlers arrived, attracted to the fertile soil of the region. The area developed and grew thanks to steamboats and the railroad. The then small city faced the challenge of a fire, and rebuilt after the fire struck in 1925.
