Another southern Tennessee city of interest is the city of Chattanooga. Chattanooga started out as a railroad town, and grew from there.  The city struggled with air pollution issues for a time, but has since begun a revitalization and recovery process. Knoxville is a great city in the northeastern part of the State.  This city used to have active quarries that brought forth a large marble supply.

Knoxville also used to be home to over twenty clothing and textile mills. Currently, it is the home of University of Tennessee’s primary campus.
