Can I get a commercial loan on my private residence?

It's possible.. there are many reasons you could get a commercial loan on a primary residence. for example, if you purchase a property with 5 or more units, and you live in one, the only financing avaialble is commercial, since your over 4 units.. another example would be a "mixed use" building.. example:.. the building has 4000 sq foot with a retail shop down stairs and a residence up stairs.. if the retail shop is larger than 2000 sf, then the only type of financing would be commercial.. These are just a couple of examples.. but you can certainly use commercial financing for a residence.. there are no laws against it..
