Most lenders require at least a 600 score. Some will go as low as 580, but generally their credit requirements won't allow the loan. For example, no late payments in the last 30 days. If you are looking for the most options from lending sources, then you should be working towards having a 620 FICO or greater. The lower your score, the fewer lenders there are that can help you and the less of something usually equates to the increase in cost to obtain. So, work with a trusted mortgage professional as soon as you are ready to start the application process so they can pull a Tri Merge Credit Report and provide you with your FICO Scores. This will let you know what a Mortgage Credit Report has for your Scores as they are much different than scores you pull yourself on most sources available online. Good Luck!
