Mortgage Rates 3-19-14

By Stevie Duffin Updated on 3/19/2014

What will mortgage interest rates do tomorrow? Rates should stay the same, according to mortgage professionals voting on our daily poll.

Today's FOMC announcement, scheduled for 2:00PM ET, is expected to be in line with continued tapering. The decision would bring the monthly bond buying to $55 billion, down from the $85 billion quantitative easing we saw months ago. Mortgage rates are staying sideways in anticipation of the Fed announcement.

Watch out for Initial Jobless Claims Thursday at 8:30 AM ET and Existing Home Sales Thursday at 10AM ET.

Recap: RealtyTrac reports that February foreclosure filings dropped by 10% from January. Even more impressive is the 27% year-over-year drop in foreclosure filings. The greatest number of filings were found in Nevada, New Jersey, Florida, Illinois and Maryland.
